FAQ

How does KiBS work?

KiBS employs a core technology that is built on Kyliptix next generation server environment using Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP (LAMP) and the AJAX methodology. It facilitates cohesion of a broad range of existing external applications on a single platform.

What is AJAX?

AJAX stands for Asynchronous JavaScript and XML. JavaScript is a programming language that provides the interactive features of AJAX. The asynchronous part of AJAX uses a piece of software written in eXtensible Markup Language (XML), that retrieves data from a Web server only when its requested by the person viewing a page instead of all at once when a page is first loaded, as with conventional Web pages.

Does AJAX work on all browsers?

AJAX works with most standard Web browsers and the Web server, unlike proprietary technologies for creating interactive Web applications that require additional software. From a technical perspective, the XML code that is used in concert with AJAX is not an industry standard; however, the major browsers available in the market support AJAX-based pages.

How do AJAX and KiBS work together?

Since the Application Framework, KiBS, supports AJAX, all of the present and future application(s) produced are supported as well. This improves Kyliptix time to market and our ability to deliver a dynamic offering more effectively.

Many companies are looking into document management services - what is it?

Document management involves scanning paper documents and storing them in an electronic file cabinet, as well as the ability to index and search those documents, share them among employees, combine the electronic documents with other business applications - making them part of the larger workflow process.

Why do I need document management?

According to InfoTrends, the overall office document solutions market is expected to reach $2.1 billion by 2011. One of the biggest needs for document management rests with regulations compliance. There are numerous regulatory and compliance requirements with which businesses must comply, such as HIPPA and the Sarbanes Oxley Act, which contain requirements for recorded documentation of processes, electronic archiving and secure confidentiality. Businesses are becoming more aware of the labor involved, space required for store, and the cost of not being able to locate something. KiBS document management can effectively fill this need.

What is SaaS?

The definition of SaaS, or Software as a Service, is best described by IDC: SaaS refers to the ongoing support and network delivery of applications where the core value pertains to the maintenance and daily operations of software. SaaS includes the provisioning of network-based access to, and management of, a commercially available application. SaaS activities are managed from central locations rather than at each customers site, so customers access applications remotely via the Web. SaaS activities are characteristically closer to a one-to-many delivery model. These include architecture, pricing, partnering and software management characteristics.

How can I benefit from SaaS?

With SaaS, customers are paying for software via a subscription or annuity model which forces the providers to be accountable for demonstrating the value of their offerings on an ongoing basis, therefore vested in your long-term success.
